The student accounts that have the problem appear to have it on whichever machine they use. Some of the student accounts have this issue, others don't. The student accounts are housed on a server and accessed from the lab computers. ![]() or retained in a hidden file in HD>Var folder.+ If the same problem is there, then more than likely it's either part of the Safari app. +If that's impractical, have him try Safari from another User Account. I have also tried trashing the internetconfig and the internetconfigpriv files, along with the Safari preference file. I tried this last night, but it didn't help. They may now be retained within the Safari app. +Those browser settings used to be in the internetconfig preference file. The timing is just too suspicious for my taste. I really think it has to do with a M$ update that the other teacher installed. As far as I can tell, it's not even checking. I did, and then was able to change the preference in Safari.įor these students, telling FF to check if it is the default browser doesn't work. It checked, and then asked me if I wanted to set FF as the default. I was able to fix one of them by starting Firefox and telling it to check if it was the default browser. I don't think the students did anything because I had about 7 kids from different classes change in the same way at the same time. I am home now, but I can post a screenshot tomorrow when I get back to school. I can't pull anything down because the menu is grayed out. The students in question each only have one of the items listed as their default "browser," but it's not the same one for every student. Yes, I am seeing these items in the Safari Preferences pull down in the upper left corner. I know none of the 3 apps in question are browsers, hence the problem when a student clicks on a link in a document or a desktop alias to open a webpage and can't get to it. ![]()
